3-Day Dharmachari Retreat: The Domain of the Bodhisattva

Not the domain of the worldly and not the domain of the saint, such is the domain of the bodhisattva.
Vimalakirti Nirdesha

This retreat will be devoted to Vimalakirti's astonishing exposition on the Domain of the Bodhisattva.

Following Sangharakshita's lectures on the Vimalakirti Nirdesha, we will explore such mysteries and wonders as the sicknesses of Bodhisattvas, Bhante's insights into the mutual perfuming of Suchness, and what we might do to practise these profound teachings. Above all, we will contemplate Bhante's description of the Bodhisattva as "a living contradiction".

Coming on retreat

Coming on a retreat at Padmaloka is a step into another way of being, where we temporarily take up a way of life that is more supportive of Buddhist Practice. We go forth from our ordinary circumstances, our comforts and distractions so that we can discern and move towards our ideals and help others to do so as well.

When booking a retreat at Padmaloka it is important to get a sense of how you will be living here - what our customs, etiquettes and requirements for being on retreat are.
