Winter Retreat

The Christmas and New Year Retreat at Padmaloka is an excellent way to fully immerse yourself in a Buddhist environment. These retreats are an ideal introduction to Buddhism and Buddhist Meditation.

Winter Retreat 2008/9 | Building the Buddha Land

"Noble sons, a buddha-field of bodhisattvas is a field of living beings. Why so? A bodhisattva embraces a buddha-field to the same extent that he causes the development of living beings.” Vimalakirti Nirdesa

In the Vimalakirti Nirdesa Sutra the Buddha describes a buddha-field as arising from the aims of living beings – that beings will live in a buddha-field to the extent that they practise the development of such things as ethics, meditation, energy, patience, generosity and the will to enlightenment.

With the help of a series of inspiring talks, meditation and puja, during this year’s winter retreat we will aim to live in a buddha-field together and to explore how we can build a buddha-land in our own lives.
Come for either one week or two.

Open to men of all levels of experience.
