Anapanasati - Mindfulness of Reality
We are all looking for some kind of liberation. This can be liberation from immediate psychological or emotional suffering, through to relief from deeper existential suffering. The Buddhadharma offers a clear path and method to relieve suffering. Through the simple act of paying attention to our breathing, bodily sensations, emotions, and thoughts we are able to see into the constantly changing nature of reality and free ourselves from clinging. This makes it possible to purify and liberate ourselves.
The training begins with being mindful of our breathing: anapanasati. This anapanasati meditation retreat uses the Buddha’s teaching of mindfulness found in the Anapanasati Sutta (Majjhima Nikaya of the Pali Canon). It is the Buddha's principal discourse on mindfulness. Following this training, it is possible to discover ever deeper levels of mindfulness into reality.
The Buddha says of this training in the Anapanasati Sutta:
‘Monks, this is the direct path for the purification of beings, for the
surmounting of sorrow and lamentation, for the disappearance of dukkha
and discontent, for acquiring the true method, for the realisation
of nibbāna, namely these four foundations of mindfulness.’
This retreat takes place between the 30th of April to the 7th of May and is open for Mitras and Dharmacaris.
