The ‘sublime abidings’ – metta or loving-kindness, mudita or sympathetic joy, karuna or compassion, and upekkha or equanimity – are a series of profound meditation practices that help us integrate and refine our emotional experience.
Practicing and dwelling in these positive states enables us to see through our narrow self-clinging, thus giving rise to the Bodhichitta, or wisdom-heart.
‘Not influenced by any subjective considerations of like and dislike, you are seeing all beings equally, without that subjective distortion, and therefore, at least to some extent, you are seeing them as they really are.’ Sangharakshita.
The retreat starts with dinner on the first day at 6:30pm and finishes on the final day at 10.00am.
This retreat is directly preceded by the Autumn Ordination Training Weekend led by the Ordination Team which you can book on here: https://padmaloka.org.uk/retreats/2019/autumn-ordination-training-weekend.
