The Brahmaviharas - metta, karuna, mudita, upekkha - are a set of practices with many dimensions. They encourage us to be honest about our real feelings and attitudes towards other people while also giving us a taste of the sublime emotions of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Bhante calls metta the emotion which is in harmony with reality and metta is thus the emotional equivalent of Insight.
They are also the fundamental attitudes necessary for the spiritual community and friendship and Bhante calls them indispensable for the creation of Sangha.
The Retreat will be an opportunity to explore all of these profound dimensions of positive emotion and take the practice of the Metta Bhavana far deeper both during the retreat and afterwards too.
Please contact the Guest Master (email@example.com) if you haven’t been on an intensive meditation retreat before.
The retreat starts with dinner on the first day at 6:30pm and finishes on the final day at 10.00am.
