Great Gathering - The Taste of Freedom

Friday, 9 October 2020 to Sunday, 11 October 2020

A live online event for all men with some experience of Triratna.

"Monks, just as the ocean has the taste of salt, just so does my Dhamma and Discipline have the taste of freedom"

The Padmaloka community invites you to participate in a live online event devoted to the Buddha's teaching on freedom or liberation. According to the Buddha all of the teachings and practices he taught have the flavour of freedom or liberation. Genuine Dhamma leads to emancipation from all negative emotions and ignorance and to the creation of a community that supports such liberation. In the course of the weekend, Padmavajra will give a talk on the theme. There will also be a question and answer session on the theme with Padmavajra. We will also be hosting online discussion groups and opportunities to join the meditations and pujas at Padmaloka.

The Programme

All events will be live-streamed from either the Padmaloka shrineroom or held in online Zoom groups.

On Friday evening there will be an introduction, dedication ceremony and Puja starting at 8pm.

On Saturday the programme will be as follows:
• 7.00 Double meditation
• 10.30 Talk by Padmavajra
• 11.30 Tea break
• 11.45-13.00 Study Groups
• 16.30 Meditation
• 20.00 Sevenfold puja and meditation

On Sunday the programme will be as follows:
• 7.00 Double meditation
• 10.30-11.30 Study Groups
• 11.30 Tea break
• 11.45-13.00 Q&A with Padmavajra followed by a closing ritual

For each event it is best to arrive at least 5 minutes early, for study groups we will start 10 minutes early to set up the groups and to resolve any technical difficulties which may occur.

Further technical details will be provided once you have booked a place.

Preparing for the Weekend

To get the most out of the weekend we recommend that as far as possible you create retreat-like conditions at home. This might include reducing input, maintaining a daily meditation practice, and taking time to reflect and absorb the meditation and study sessions.

Giving a Donation

These events are run on a donation basis.

Your donation is an opportunity to be a part of the culture of generosity that sits at the heart of Padmaloka, to help keep that heart alive and thriving, and to contribute towards the short and long term ability of Padmaloka to be able to keep on giving that most precious and essential gift of the Dharma to as many men as possible.

We ask that you give what you can based on your current financial circumstances.

If your financial circumstances are healthy, then we would invite you to give generously, but if not, don't let money be an obstacle - what we want most is for men to be able to participate in these events and continue their training in Ordination and the Dharma life.
