This page is for booking onto the online aspect of the Winter hybrid retreat.
'Thus should we think of all this fleeting world:
A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream;
A flash of lightning in a summer cloud,
A flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream.'
The Winter Retreat, marking the changes as one year comes to an end and another begins, comes at an auspicious time to go on retreat; a time of transformation and new possibilities.
This year's Winter retreat is an intensive meditation retreat, led by Satyaraja and the Ordination team, with short talks on the Diamond Sutra by Padmavajra. There will be plenty of meditation, focusing on the just sitting practice, with full instruction, sutra reading, silence and puja as well as individual meditation reviews.
Each event on the programme will be done via the online platform Zoom, streaming live from the Padmaloka Shrine Room.
On the first evening, we will gather for an introductory event at 8pm.
On the following days the programme will be as follows:
7.00 - 8.40am Meditation
10.30am Meditation teaching and Q&A followed by a led meditation
7.30 - 8.00pm Meditation Reviews
8.15pm Meditation and Puja
The retreat will finish with the final shrine event on the last full day.
Further technical details will be provided once you have booked a place.
Preparing for the Online Event
To make the most out of the retreat we recommend that as far as possible you create retreat-like conditions at home. You can find some ideas and guidance on being on an online event here: A Guide to Online Events
Giving a Donation
These events are run on a donation basis.
Your donation is an opportunity to be a part of the culture of generosity that sits at the heart of Padmaloka, to help keep that heart alive and thriving, and to contribute towards the short and long term ability of Padmaloka to be able to keep on giving that most precious and essential gift of the Dharma to as many men as possible.
We ask that you give what you can based on your current financial circumstances.
If your financial circumstances are healthy, then we would invite you to give generously, but if not, don't let money be an obstacle - what we want most is for men to be able to participate in these events and continue their training in Ordination and the Dharma life.
