The Inconceivable Emancipation
What is bondage? And what is liberation?
To indulge in liberation from the world without employing skilful means is bondage for the Bodhisattva. To engage in life in the world with full employment of skilful means is liberation.
To experience the taste of meditation without skilful means is bondage. To experience the taste of meditation with skilful means is liberation. The Vimalakirti Nirdesa
Entering into the mysterious and magical world of the Vimalakirti Nirdesa, this Sutra will evoke a world in which we can transcend the dualism of self and other, reaching a fuller understanding of the liberation of the Buddha – the realisation of Wisdom and Compassion.
All meditation practices will be fully introduced and there will also be a strong emphasis on devotion and sutra recitation, as well as talks introducing the theme.
Alongside extensive shrine room practice, there will be plenty of time to reflect with the support of periods of silence, and personal, one-to-one meditation reviews.
Join us for the pinnacle of our retreat calendar.

Coming on a retreat at Padmaloka is a step into another way of being, where we temporarily take up a way of life that is more supportive of Buddhist Practice. We go forth from our ordinary circumstances, our comforts and distractions so that we can discern and move towards our ideals and help others to do so as well.
When booking a retreat at Padmaloka it is important to get a sense of how you will be living here - what our customs, etiquettes and requirements for being on retreat are.
